Abstract

The background of the school accreditation policy in Indonesia is that every citizen has the right to quality education. To be able to provide quality education, each unit/program or education unit must meet or exceed the standards carried out through accreditation activities on the appropriateness of each educational unit/program. The objectives of this study are 1) what is the quality implementation strategy at SMAN 1 Padang; 2) how to prepare, implement and follow up accreditation at SMAN 1 Padang in order to improve the quality of schools; 3) follow-up on the results of school accreditation carried out in the context of improving school quality. This research uses the descriptive qualitative method. Data collection techniques using interview and observation techniques. The results of this study indicate 1) quality implementation at SMAN 1 Padang is carried out by paying attention to aspects of curriculum implementation and teaching, educators and education personnel, students, quality of graduates, facilities and infrastructure as well as school relations with the community, 2) in preparation for accreditation of SMAN 1 Padang preparing 3 aspects, among others, facilities and infrastructure, administration, and preparation for the implementation of the visitation; 3) Follow-up to improve school quality, namely the results and accreditation recommendations obtained as material by SMAN 1 Padang in the framework of making policies to improve the quality of SMAN 1 Padang, besides that SMAN 1 Padang also seeks to improve school facilities and infrastructure.
